15 – Day Uganda Rwanda Adventure

On arrival, you will be welcomed by your Ntungo safari guide, proceed to the hotel for check in and relaxation.

Your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Entebbe and introduce you to the experience of a lifetime. You will head to Lake Victoria for a boat cruise to Ngamba Island. Ngamba Island is the home to 49 orphaned Chimpanzees rescued from across East Africa. Your boat will set off from Entebbe peninsula early so that you arrive to the island in time to feed the primates. More will be told about the primates as you spend time observing them while they feed, rest and interact with each other. Chimpanzees are man’s closest relatives and share 98.8% of man’s DNA. You will have lunch and return to Entebbe. Later in the evening, you will visit the main and first zoo in Uganda.
You will then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Your guide will pick you from your hotel and you will embark on a 6 hour journey to Kibale National Park through Fort Portal. Fort Portal is home to formerly the world’s youngest Monarch, in Toro kingdom. This will give you the opportunity to stop by his palace and learn about some amazing cultural norms. You will tour the Amabeere ga NyinaMwiru caves. These drip with a milky substance which is believed by the locals to be breast milk. These are actually stalactites and stalagmites
After the cultural visit, continue to Kibale forest and check into your lodge. After the day’s drive, relaxation and dinner.

A very knowledgeable and trained guide will take you through the forest after an early morning briefing. Kibale NP has over 13 species of primates with several habituated families of the chimpanzee. And other species of Central African monkey including the Ugandan Mangabey, the Ugandan red colubus, black and white colubus and the blue monkey among others. The bird life in this national park is very prolific so look out for some flying beauties like the Rwenzori Turaco.
You will be led on a guided nature walk to find one of the habituated chimpanzee families within the forest. On finding it, you will have a chance to stand at close proximity and have some shots as you observe their behavior.
After this, return to the lodge for lunch and you have an opportunity to have the Bigodi swamp walk. A very exciting walk to know about this primate haven.

You will have a relaxed morning at the lodge or visiting the crater lakes and tea plantations. Later have lunch and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park; Uganda’s most visited park. She is a home to 96 mammal species and over 600 bird species. On arrival, you will have chances to have an evening game drive in the park.

Today, we shall have a morning game drive, then visit the Salt Lake and the fishing village. You return to the lodge for lunch and then head out for the Kazinga channel boat ride.

Today you will transfer to the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park to search for the tree climbing lions. Have a game drive here in search for the lions. There are other animals like Topis, leopards, baboons, black and white colobus monkeys and many others, in this sector of the park. You will have a bush lunch today when you find an appropriate place during the game drive. After this, continue to Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, your driver will take you to the starting point where you will be briefed. You will commence the walk in the forest, led by a specialized guide to look for one of the habituated Gorilla families. Bwindi impenetrable has over 340 individual primates, half of the world’s Mountain Gorilla population. There are 120 species of mammals and 348 bird species. It is also the most diverse forest in east Africa with 1000 flowering plant species you will see primate including Colobus monkeys, chimpanzees and for bird lovers, a chance to view birds such as Green backed twin spot, red-headed bluebill, crowned hornbill among others in the Albertine rift. A relaxed day is what we expect today. We shall drive out to Lake Bunyonyi just to relax by the beautiful Lake; Uganda’s deepest lake. There are possibilities for a canoe, village walk or even a boat cruise to get to learn about some of the islands.

This day will be a day to transit from Uganda to Rwanda via the Cyanika border. In the morning after your breakfast, you will drive further south to Kisoro town. We shall have a stop here and learn a bit more about the people in this part of the country. Today we shall have lunch in Kisoro town and possibly buy a few things then cross over to Rwanda. On entering The Land of a Thousand Hills, you will proceed to a forex bureau to first exchange some money to use while in Rwanda. Continue to the lodge for check in.

After an early breakfast, the driver will take you to the briefing point of the park where you will be informed in detail about Gorilla trekking. This will give you an insight of what to expect while on the nature walk in the forest. The walk will be a guided one and therefore, you have the chance to explore this forest in its completeness.

Today is a day to travel from one forest to the next. Nyungwe forest is southwards and gives you chance to enjoy the scenery of the tea plantation at the foot of the mountainous rain forest and home to other primates though this will be entirely for relaxation. The journey will reward you with sights of much of the Rwanda landscape, vegetation and settlement. On arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy the beauty of the countryside.

Sleep in and have a village walk at leisure. Later on in the day, you have an opportunity to go for the Canopy walk on the Igishigishigi trail. The walk is very exciting and adrenaline jerking, a must do. The name is from the giant ferns along the trail and the canopy walk is only a part of it. After the canopy walk, take time with some stops enroute just to enjoy the country more.

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and then we start our journey towards Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. On the way you will visit Murambi Genocide memorial where thousands of lives were lost in 1994 during the Rwanda genocide. This place tells a very heartbreaking story that affected an entire national in just a span of 100 days. This is a story you will have the opportunity to hear.
Afterwards, you will continue to Kigali for a night before you can depart the following day.

Today, depending on the flight time, you will have a relaxed day to possibly have a city tour and then later have a coffee just before your return flight home.
