6 – Day Urban Safari , Uganda

Your specialized Ntungo Wildlife safaris driver/guide will pick you up from your hotel for an early morning city tour. Kampala city is Uganda’s capital city, formerly standing on the original seven hills. The city has now expanded and now sits on 22 hills. The city tour will take you through some of the most interesting and historical places in Uganda’s busiest business area. The day will start with the busiest part of Kampala (downtown) in Owino market. This place can only be compared to a bee hive and is Africa’s biggest second hand clothing market. There are lots of other items sold in this market and some of our clients have testified to buying big branded clothes at giveaway prices. Be sure to hold your purses with care because like any busy place, it is a breeding place for pick pockets.
You will then visit Kabaka’s palace in Mengo where you will find Idi Amin’s torture chambers, the only available proof of the brutality of the regime. This place can only be compared to Auschwitz, Poland with a history that is almost similar, grim written all over its walls. You will visit Kabaka’s lake in Ndeeba, Uganda’s largest man- made lake, also prolific for bird watching.
You will visit the Gadhafi Mosque, which like you probably have already guessed, was built by former Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi. It is at this point that you will be able to appreciate Kampala’s beauty with a bird’s eye view.
Other places you will visit include: the Baha’i temple (the only one in Africa), Namirembe and Rubaga Cathedrals, the Uganda Parliament and crown the day at Ndere center with an evening full of cultural presentations.

You will crown the evening with a dinner, a camp fire and a night in the forest.

After a hearty breakfast, you will head to Jinja to the source of the Nile. River Nile is the world’s longest river alongside the Mississipi River. Today’s journey will take you to the source of this mighty river. You will take a short boat ride to the “source” while listening to stories from the local guides. There are a number of historical monuments in this area, your guide will gladly take you through them.
